As a Financial Officer Intern, you will be involved in various finance-related tasks, providing support to the GPF Finance Team. This internship will give you hands-on experience in critical areas such as accounts payable, cashbook reconciliations, and other departmental administration processes.
Requirements
To be eligible for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- BCom or National Diploma in Accounting or Finance, or an equivalent NQF level 6 or 7 qualification.
- Experience:
- No prior work experience is required. This is an entry-level internship.
- Candidates with in-service training experience will be considered.
Skills:
- High attention to detail: Ability to meticulously review financial documents, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
- Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel: Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office tools to create and manage complex spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills: Capable of clearly conveying ideas, financial concepts, and detailed reports in both written and spoken formats.

Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable:
- Assist in capturing transactions on the accounting system.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of cash claim expenditures.
- Prepare and process payments onto the banking system.
- Cash Books:
- Process entries related to bank accounts, including payment runs, bank charges, and interest.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Upload bank statements onto the intranet.
- Petty Cash Claims:
- Capture petty cash expenditures accurately.
- Participate in investigations of outstanding claims and execute new petty cash applications.
- Economic Development & BEE Reporting:
- Prepare quarterly Economic Development (ED) reports.
- Collate data and prepare sample selections for BEE audits.
- Teamwork and Adhoc Duties:
- Collaborate with colleagues and assist in team activities.
- Contribute to meetings and brainstorming sessions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
